One-Day Professional Development Workshop
Thursday, September 10, 2009
Creative Capital will present a one-day professional development workshop for up to fifty participants at Penland School on on Thursday, September 10. This introductory workshop, based on Creative Capital's acclaimed weekend Professional Development workshop model, employs an integrated approach to strategic planning and promotion for individual artists. The workshop aims to help individual artists break the crisis management cycle and increase their satisfaction in their art practice and career.
Through lecture presentations, breakout groups and interactive exercises, participants will be led through the process laid out in the PDP Strategic Planning Workbook, which includes exercises and evaluation processes for goal setting, time management, financial tracking, budgets and arts busines management. Additionally, the workshop looks at marketing and promoting your work as an integral, natural part of the creative process, focusing on the necessary tools for promotion and how to use them to communicate with others about your work and gain wider media coverage.
Applications are due at Penland by Friday, August 21.
The workshop will be led by Colleen Keegan, who developed the strategic planning program that has now impacted over 400 Creative Capital grantees and Jackie Battenfield, author of the just-released The Artists' Guide: Making a Living Doing What You Love, along with trained Creative Capital grantees.
