Host Wanda Urbanska interviewing instructor Emilio Santini in the Penland flameworking studio.Penland School of Crafts will be featured on the PBS program Simple Living with Wanda Urbanska in episode 3 of the program's current season. The episode will air at 6:30 PM on Sunday, April 20 on North Carolina's UNC-TV. The series is carried by 165 stations nationwide--check local listings for availability.
According to the program's website, Simple Living "offers thoughtful ideas to inspire each of us to make adjustments to possession-cluttered, time-starved lives." The April 20 episode is titled "The Artist Within" and it explores "how simple living can connect you with your inner artist." In addition to visiting Penland School, the segment includes Winston-Salem mosaicist Jan Detter, New York pop singer Dana Parrish, and composer Andy Hollander.
The Penland segment was filmed during the summer of 2007. It features an interview with Penland's director Jean McLaughlin, core student Courtney Dodd, instructors Teresah Arthur, Emilio Santini, Clarissa Sligh, and others.
If you live in North Carolina, you can also catch a rebroadcast of a Penland feature on Our State-TV, which originally aired in 2006. It will be shown again as part of the April 17 broadcast, which airs at 8:00 PM.
