Each year, on the first Saturday in March, Penland invites the public to spend an afternoon in our studios. Our studio coordinators plan and prepare for hands-on activities and are then joined by more than 100 volunteers who assist visitors as they try their hands at glassblowing, wheelthrowing, blacksmithing, and many other activities. This year, despite persistent rain, the event attracted about 450 enthusiastic participants.
