Community Collaboration Intern
Summary
Community Collaboration interns support and implement community initiatives programs and activities. The intern will assist with materials preparation for Teaching Artist Initiative (TAI) programs, support for Kids Camp activities, and some administrative work including data entry and transcription. The internship might also include planning and implementing hands-on activities in the community at festivals and/or at community centers. The internship period is May through August, part time (12 to 15 hours/week – maybe more dependent on special project portion)
Responsibilities
Assist with preparation for grant reporting and evaluation activities, including data entry, transcription of notes, other duties as necessary.
Assist with materials preparation for TAI school activities, including cutting paper and book boards, receiving materials orders, organizing materials, other duties as necessary.
Assist with Kids Camp activities, including processing student materials on first day of camp, documenting camp activities through photos, assisting instructors as needed, supervising cleanup at end of camp sessions.
Assist with grant research, including looking for funding sources that might support TAI program activities, and share information with program and development staff.
Hands-on project coordination (Carolina Mountains Literary Festival, Troutacular, Storytelling Festival, etc.) This area will be defined based on the intern’s goals and how they intersect with possible programming in the community.

Physical Demands
This position requires the applicant walk unaided up and down hills and over uneven terrain, bend, stoop, reach above their head, have use of fine and gross motor skills, and work in close quarters. The applicant must have normal visual acuity at near and far distance with correction and hear the spoken word with correction. The applicant must be fluent in English. The position demands frequent exposure to inclement weather. While performing the duties of this job, the applicant is regularly required to sit and to work at a computer. The applicant is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls and to talk fluently. The applicant must occasionally lift and/or move heavy objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
Compensation
All housing and meals will be provided to the intern for the duration of the internship period.
