Foreign Worlds, Private Places

Four artists exploring unfamiliar territories

July 26 - September 11, 2011

Kreh Mellick - "Frostbite" - gouache on paper - 1200. - "This particular work is a scene from a larger narrative. These women exist in a timeless place of tradition, opposition and play. Using a motif inspired by Pennsylvania Dutch tradition coupled by women in various stages of agitation or conversation, we wonder where these women fit in time. Are we viewing a modern woman or an archaic view of our modern selves? What are the goals of a modern feminist? Though, it is possible these women are all just humming softly in a faraway field."
